Cross-denominational Missions

St. John’s has close ties to other dioceses worldwide and particularly with two brothers who are the bishops of dioceses in Tanzania.

  • The Diocese of Tabora, home of the Rt. Rev. Sadock Makaya, a long time friend of St. John’s church. Tabora is located in the central part of Tanzania.
  • The Diocese of Lweru, home of the Rt. Rev. Jackton Lugumira, the first seminary student sponsored by St. John’s. Bishop Lugumira spend 4 years with us at St. John’s. This is a newly formed diocese in the Province of Tanzania.
  • We have also built a close relationship with a church in Santa Maria, Nicaragua. Click HERE for information about the ministry in Nicaragua.
  • Also - and appropriately in light of our Rwandan oversight - we are building a relationship with the Rt. Rev. Alexis Bilindabagabo, bishop of the Diocese of Gahini in Rwanda, about which more may be found by clicking HERE and HERE.

In addition to supporting individuals and teams that step out into the mission field, St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church also supports various organizations that seek to spread the good news of Christ and others that fight against the attacks on Biblical values. Church Planting

We have begun to develop relationships with groups, who have an interest in planting a congregation. We still have much to learn as a congregation about how to do this well, but by God’s grace, we have been and are permitted to have some small hand in encouraging several groups in a variety of ways. At present, these groups include:

Partner Ministries

AMMI Ministry

AMMI is a non-denominational Bible believing and teaching mission work to the Jewish people. We began at a center city church in Philadelphia in 1984 and became a mission board in 1991. AMMI has two main purposes; bring the Gospel to Jewish people and Ministering to the church.

Jian Hua Foundation

JHF is dedicated to serving the peoples of China through sending professionals to serve in a wide variety of support positions, including language teachers, medical doctors, occupational therapists, etc. The purpose is to build China through cooperation in education, development, medical and social services, serving her people with compassion, integrity and expertise.

Anglicans for Life

The purpose of Anglicans For Life is to be a life-affirming ministry in the Worldwide Anglican Communion. The mission of Anglican’s for Life is to advocate the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death in the Church and society. Working together as followers of Jesus Christ, we can reach out and minister to the lost, the needy, the sick and suffering, experiencing fun and fellowship as we fulfill the great commission.

Pregnancy Resource Clinic of North Penn

Offering counseling for pregnant women including options for adoption and parenting, Pregnancy Resource Clinic of North Penn provides confidential support and free services to women.

Harvest USA

Harvest USA is committed to proclaiming the hope of Jesus Christ in a sexually broken world. In addition to providing resources and support for individuals, Harvest partners with and equips churches in bringing the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ to transform the lives of men and women struggling with or affected by sexual sin.

Sunday Breakfast Association

Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission ministers in the name of Jesus Christ to the spiritual and practical needs of the disadvantaged in the Philadelphia area. Our goal is to lead men and women into a right relationship with God, with their families, and with society. They provide immediate material help, such as food and shelter, and long-term recovery & discipleship, including Biblical counseling and educational support.

Help A Child

Help A Child has been providing aid to children for over 30 years. This ministry emphasizes Christian-based assistance and education.

Urban Family Council

The mission of Urban Family Council is to advocate for Life, Marriage and Family by educating, persuading and building interracial and cross-cultural partnerships in the city and surrounding areas.
