Great Love, Local Love

Jesus told his disciples on the eve before his crucifixion, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” And in order to make clear what he meant by love — and certainly with his own suffering on his mind — he clarified his point by saying “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” (John 15.12 – 13).

We have an example of this kind of love in our midst. Lindsay Steege, the daughter of Chuck and Sue Steege laid down her — well — kidney for her sister in the faith, Rachael Buckley. You can read more about their story here: http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/what_happened/Nice-To-Meet-You-Take-My-Kidney.html. Are you willing to follow their good example?
