Great Love, Local Love

Jesus told his disciples on the eve before his crucifixion, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” And in order to make clear what he meant by love — and certainly with his own suffering on his mind — he clarified his point by saying “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” (John 15.12–13).

We have an example of this kind of love in our midst. Lindsay Steege, the daughter of Chuck and Sue Steege laid down her — well — kidney for her sister in the faith, Rachael Buckley. You can read more about their story here: http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/what_happened/Nice-To-Meet-You-Take-My-Kidney.html. Are you willing to follow their good example?
